Watch and Pray!

Watch and Pray!

I understand it can be a little uncomfortable for some believers to focus on the most important things right now, especially this time when the whole world is being ravaged by coronavirus pandemic.
However, amidst all that is going on in our nation and the world at large, I am more persuaded of God’s faithful word and His expectation from us as believers!
“While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2Cor. 4:18
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2Cor. 5:7
Firstly, Our Lord Jesus Christ warned us of the things that would happen on the earth right before His coming, He said there would be wars and rumours of war, nations will rise against nations, and there would be earthquake, pestilence and famines in different places.
“And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matt. 24:6-8
“But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.” Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” Luke 21:9-11
These things shouldn’t be new to us if indeed we are reading our Bible. Jesus instructed us about all these incidences not to get us agitated, but rather to let us know about the time of His coming, and while we joyfully wait, we keep the focus and are sound in our disposition.
It’s so unfortunate that a lot of us are agitated like the rest of the world; panic has taken over the heart of many. If we had been well rooted in the words of the Master, and we are constantly walking in the consciousness of His finished work, there will not be panic!
Never too late to Watch and Pray!
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36
The instructions above say watch and pray!
He didn’t say saturate your mind with the fear of coronavirus, no, he also didn’t say pattern your life and consciousness in the fear that is shaking the world right now…Nay!
We are soldiers, and we were not made for destructions, but rather for glory. Whatever is going on in the world should not make us fearful, but rather should stir us up to manifest the power and the presence of God on the earth. This end time is not for the fearful hearted, but for men and women of faith!
Hence, we are to watch and pray, be courageous and strengthened in the power of His might. We are to wait expectantly for the coming of our Lord Jesus (As He has rightly said that these signs are proves of His nearness in coming)
We are to preach this gospel even more! For in it lies the answers to the woes the world is facing. There’s no better time to herald the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the world, and establish the consciousness of the believers more in the reality of what Christ has done for them in His death, burial and triumphant resurrection.
Finally, I leave you with this:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Phil. 4:6-9
As a law abiding citizen, wash your hands, use a hand sanitizer, and keep the necessary laws of the land as touching safety measures in curbing coronavirus. But above all, watch and pray, be steadfast and immovable. Preach the gospel online and offline, and pray for the sick that the virtues of Christ in you might find expressions in healing others. I call you blessed!
